The procedure waiting room was a bit of a wait but the care was great. The doc was personable, efficient, and practiced. I barely felt the injections and didn't even realize we were finished till he started talking about taking my papers to the front. Definitely worth the waiting room.

The staff here are all very nice!!! Dr Joiner himself is great. He has a great personality and talks you on your level of what he is going to do before hand. They all deserve 10 STARS instead of five.

Actually this time around, I was truly disappointed cause one of the injections struck a nerve which lit me up & plus there was blood & blemishes left from the injections. I was the last patient seen & I felt honestly felt rushed plus rough handed as well. I'm still fairly sore from those injections which never happened previously.

Dr Joiner is very nice and does a good job but his office staff is very slow to respond and it’s very hard to get in touch with office staff. 100% sure they screen calls with caller ID. Was in pain for 3 days and nobody would call me back or answer the phone when I called ended up in the Emergency Department 3 different times because of this. Then Monday 8/3/2026 was supposed to have procedure they canceled at 6:30 am then rescheduled on Wed 8/5/2026 appt at 8:30 but want seen until after 11am. Staff very apologetic but my boyfriend had to miss work because it to so long.

Dr Joiner was very informative before and during the injection. I didn’t experience any pain during the procedure. I’m so glad that I got to meet him

Had to wait 45+minutes to be called back. It was freezing cold in the waiting room, spent most of the time standing outside to keep the cold from making my pain unbearable. She gave me a small shot of versed after taking my vitals. Then I was led to an even colder procedure room for another 45 minute wait. Finally received 12-15 injections in my thoracic spine. None in my cervical area

My first visit with Dr. Joiner and staff was a good one!! I appreciated the attention and time given from check in through the exam, to checking out. Other than the exam room being a little cold while waiting, that was my only concern, however, Dr. Joiner was great, professional and supportive. The nurse attending to me prior to the exam was great!! Can’t recall his name but he was on point, asking questions, listening to me, making me feel comfortable prior to the exam/injection. Overall a good, positive appointment!!!

So sad that I couldn’t continue as a patient because I did not want injections that does not help. If I had continued with the injections, I would prefer not to have to sit two or three hours waiting on one. I’m sure he’s a great doctor for those who want to get unnecessary injections.

Dr Joiner is very good at what he does he's patient with you and takes his time to answer any question you may have and explains it to you where you'll understand he doesn't hurry up with you to get to his next patient Dr. Joiner takes his time with you and make sure you, his patient is happy, satisfied and make sure you both are on the same page of understanding before he goes to another patient. Dr. Joiner knows what he's doing. Yes, I definitely would recommend him.

This practice has improved my quality of life in countless ways. They always listen and actually care about their patients. Indiba is coming back and this treatment is nothing short of a miracle. It is the only treatment that has improved my pain management unbelievably and allowed me to stop falling, walk better and have more happy moments with my kids! I love these people from the front desks to the nurses, practitioners and to Dr. Joiner himself. There are no better pain management clinics.

I feel this practice schedules too many patients in a day. Most pain management offices have the patients seen every 2 or even 3 months, not every month. Waiting times are rediculous. And not only is it extremely inconvenient for the patients but the staff have to be suffering too. They don’t even have enough staff to answer the phone! I have driven clear to the office to get a 5 second question answered. When mentioning this to the staff it’s because they “haven’t replaced the person who usually answered the phone” I feel this is purely an economic situation. The more patients they see, the more money is brought in. As far as the actual care is concerned it is very good. No complaints once you get to see a practitioner.

I love Dr. Joyner. His staff and office workers are so professional and extremely courteous and kind. You don’t get rushed through like you’re just another number. I like that. The office was very booked yesterday but it in no was reflected the treatment or care of the patients. This was the 3rd round of injections that I’ve had in my neck and I can truly say that they have been a tremendous help. Appointment no found in system, however I had a confirmation of appointment. This constituted a work in since I had driven 1.5 hours to make the appointment. Over all a 15 minute appointment took about three and a half hours.

I have been a patient of Dr Joiner for more than 10 years. He and his PAs have kept me going. When the Orthopedic group to me there was nothing they could do to help me, Dr Joiner listened to me and have helped control my chronic pain and allowed me to continue to pursue my passion of riding and showing my horses! Through a combination of procedures such as nerve root blocks, epidural steroid injections, and medication management, in addition spinal fusion and a spinal cord stimulator have helped too! So thankful for Dr Joiner and his team. They have improved my quality of life and allowed me to be active!

I’ve been seeing Chris in the Covington office going on a year now. He is the first Dr I’ve seen who is trying to improve my day to day functionality by treating my pain with the hopes of improving my day to day life and having a goal of working towards reducing the amount of drugs I take every day. I had never even met Dr Joiner before this past Monday. I came to the Roanoke office for my first epidural injection in my neck. Even though there was a mixup with my appt, and he was working me in, not once did he seem rushed or irritated. I would recommend him to absolutely anyone. He is kind, patient and really seems to understand how pain can affect a persons wellbeing….. Thank you Dr. Joiner and Chris Karaffa for all you do…..

I had a cervical injection today with Dr Joiner. I had to wait probably 30 minutes once I was on the table for the injection, which I totally understand that some procedures take longer with some patients, I always plan on having to wait an hour just in case but most of the time I'm in and out very quick. Dr Joiner is the best if ever seen with spinal injections (he's probably given me 40 to 50 over the last several years, not to mention several nerve ablations) and i won't see anyone else! I highly recommend him and his associates, they have been wonderful to help me with severe osteo and rheumatoid arthritis in my spine and other joints. I would send my best friend to see them if they were in pain.

I have been going to Dr. Joiner for years and he has been the only doctor to help with my lower back pain and meralgia parasthetica in my left leg. He performs my epidural steroid injections as needed and so does his other PA Patrick. His PA Holly Martin is amazing and has been able to help keep my pain under control without oral pain meds until recently when the MRI she ordered showed that my back had gotten worse. She ordered me a surgical consult which is scheduled. Everyone in their office is so attentive, kind and treats you with respect. If you have to wait and that doesn’t occur often then this staff is worth waiting on!! I would not want to go anywhere else!! Other staff are amazing too! Susie, Brenda, Anthony, Stephanie and all the rest are amazing!! Sorry I can’t remember everyone’s name- brain freeze lol..They have my number one vote in knowledge and kindness!! Thanks so much!!

I was totally discouraged at my last appointment! I was left on the examining table for over an hour. I was lying on my stomach and I got leg cramps, had to go to the bathroom and was totally freezing. I am short and I have a difficult time getting off the table and I finally was off to go to the bathroom, I returned to the room and put my coat on to stay warm. I waited another 15 minutes and I went to the lobby to get warm. I told the receptionist when they were finally ready to give me my shots I would be in the L lobby trying to get warm. I was finally taken back and received the shots. The past two time the shots worked but didn’t this time. I drove home with a headache and completely worn out. I kept calling for someone to give me assistance to get off the table but no one showed up. I was there over 3 hours! This has never happened there before. I willl discuss it with my back doctor next week what I need to do now!

I have been a patient of Dr. Joiner’s at his Roanoke Office for more than 20 years. Unfortunately, I have endured 2 back surgeries with extensive hardware and it is not likely that my condition will ever improve. I decided after several years to help endure the pain to go back to nerve blocks. I had not seen Dr. Joiner in a number of years, but requested his expertise specifically. Dr Joiner is amazing I barely felt the procedure!

I had a neck ablation done and it was an awful experience. They took me back in a private room and gave me IM Versed but I did not have the actual procedure done for an hour after that so the medication had no effect. I told the X-ray technician that I did not feel the medication and she dismissed it as it was IM and said it stays longer in my system. I was placed on the procedure table on my stomach hooked up to the ground pad and I couldn’t move. She left and said her and the doctor would be back. I laid there in that position for 30 minutes with neck and back pain. The doctor came in and just immediately started chitchatting and started the procedure without apologizing for leaving me there for so long or asking if I’m ok. During this painful procedure, the doctor and the X-ray technician totally dismissed me and gossiped about the work place the entire time. Afterwards, no one gave me any aftercare instructions or anything helpful. They just pointed me to the checkout staff.

Thank you for allowing me to be your patient. You went above and beyond with my care, as well as educated me on my condition. Always so positive to talk to, highly recommend! Thank you for my care .

I've been going to Dr Joiner for the past 13+ yrs because he knows what he's doing! In my opinion he's the best in the business especially when it comes to injections. I Drive an hour and a half to see him and also Taryn Wilson for my pain management. They have been a blessing to me over the years and I owe them many thanks. I have had to sit in the waiting room for a longer time than expected a few times but I do understand that they have issues with other patients from time to time and that's OK with me because I know they would take all the time they need to with me as well. I'm very happy with the care I've been given by Dr Joiner and associates.

My appointment was at 0830, Nurse Brenda was right on time very knowledgeable of her practice, gave me all the details about my procedure, gave me a painless sedative and prepped me for Dr.Joiner. Dr.Joiner gave name two injections in my neck, left side and right side, no pain no fuss. He is truly a great physician and a good man.

Very friendly and helpful experience and Doctor Jointer is god sent the injection in my neck for Ruptured disc make a world of difference. I’ve been seeing him for five or six years and have always helped with without them. I may have already had To have surgery.

Since they out and out wouldn't see me due to "an accident" that was 5+ years ago being in my history, I think you should know. What difference does it make why I am hurting? I need medical care just as anyone else. If he's actually competent, then he shouldn't worry about WHY a patient is hurting. He should be trying to find out, with at least one eval, if he can help. PATHETIC that he makes enough money off of others that my pain and money doesn't matter

I was a patient of Dr Joiner many years ago. I recently need his specialty after all these years again. I wasnt surprised to once again have a very good experience with the spinal injections I received. If one is experiencing spinal pain,I would highly recomend Dr Joiners practice !

Dr. Joiner is very skilled and genuinely empathetic. I benefit from my appointments. When I've had to reschedule, they work hard to see me soon. When he has to reschedule, I am always seen within a week, if not the same day at an earlier time. I have great appreciation for Dr. Joiner and his office staff.

The staff is nice and they keep interactions with them feeling personal and warm, while also being very professional and informative. My nerve ablation on my lower back went well and when there was a minor unexpected event during the procedure, which was no fault of Dr Joiner or his nurse, it was immediately corrected with no harm done and the rest of the procedure went according to plan with expected end results. All around a good experience from begining to end.

He and his associates are the kindness, caring people around. They are extremely hard working people who really care about their patients. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Dr Joiner himself is amazing.

When I walked in the procedure room, I heard gospel music playing. The music was very calming to me. Dr. Joiner explained what he was about to do before he did the procedure and questioned me to see if I was okay. I had a nerve block on each side of my neck and never felt either of them. Very polite receptionists. Polite nurses. Clean facility. First Si injection went well.

Reception is super sweet. After that all goes out the window. That place is not for people with really bad issues. The pain I endured during my 2 hour wait just to see the Doctor was excruciating. No explanation why I was in the waiting room that long. Still had a long wait after they took me back. I was there for help with pain not to be induced to it. Friendly staff but that place not for me.

It's always a pleasure to see the nurses and doctors at this facility. Everyone is always in the best of spirits...

Dr. Joiner has helped me by performing his surgical skills and tasks very professionally and pleasantly. My pain level in areas of his care have decreased tremendously. I'm accomplishing things I never thought I would be able to do again. I'm doing my home physical therapy with enthusiasm and enjoying doing things with my family again ❤️. Yes, I would recommend this medical service to all my family and retired coworkers who are in need of a really good pain Management program. My PA Kathy Phillips is amazingly smart and very informative in explaining the problems my body is experiencing and the process needed to manage the pain and make it better. I wish I would have found Dr. Joiner and Associates 10 years ago. Thank you for your care.

Twice I've had spinal injection in my back and both times had great results. I follow up with monthly visits and for over 2 years had no issues. Recently I've discovered more problems with different area of spine and had to return for another injection. They were able to schedule an appointment quickly and I have some reduced pain right away. I highly recommend this office and staff to anyone suffering with similar issues.

However laying on my stomach was uncomfortable. Couldn't get my neck and head in a good position.

They were all so nice and concerned and took good care of me! The bone pain from steroid induced osteoporosis, osteoarthritis and fractures were getting bad and he helped me greatly!

I'm so thankful that such a caring team is nearby that that takes such good all around care of their patients! Sending out big hugs to my care team.

Very nice doctor

Dr Joiner and all of his staff were very helpful & friendly. This was my first visit at this office. My only concerns were that I was not provided with information regarding post injection expectations after my procedure was completed. I was also given a pink card to turn in at check out with no explanation as to the purpose. I also had no idea that I would need to repeat the injections every 14 weeks until I was checking out. I just felt that I should have been better informed throughout the process during my initial office appointment. However, I am confident that my next appointment will be much smoother!

I have never had an issue with any doctor, nurse, or the administration in this office. (And I believe I have seen them all!!) I would highly recommend this practice to anyone who has issues with pain management. Patients know beforehand there may be a wait due to unforseen circumstances that may arise throughout the day. A little patience can go a long way!!

Always a great experience to be treated by Dr. Joiner and his associates. I've been a patient in his practice for many years and continue to receive the best experiences there. Pleasant atmosphere and he and his staff are very professional with the patient's well being in mind.

Dr. Joiner, his medical staff dealing with my pain issues, as well as his nursing staff, the office staff have been an understanding and compassionate presence . The procedures were professionally done with mostly effective results. Having been a critical care nurse for 17 years before my TBI disabled me, I can see the effort as well as the professionalism. I wish that I had found them sooner in my 32 year long struggle with the profound changes in my life.

The procedure was performed in a timely manner. The wait time was shorter than I’ve ever waited. I’m actually pain free since procedure. I only have muscle soreness. Thank you do very much!!

Everyone and I mean, everyone was extremely professional, nice, efficient, and explained everything. It’s just like old times instead of the new modern ones where everyone is unprofessional.

Excellent practice with some of the most helpful and kind staff and nurses I’ve ever encountered. Tried calling over the weekend to get their first names since I’m awful with names and have wanted to do a Google review for some time now. I’d especially like the opportunity to share my experience with Patrick Kenney too but I’ve been unable to find where to share feedback for him specific. If there’s a way to do so I’d love to provide feedback for him in addition to Joyner’s office. I can say that of all medical offices I’ve met with since March 2023 shingles turned into September unexpected mayhem, this is the first office where I feel at home, comfortable discussing symptoms openly despite some being very embarrassing, and felt the time, compassion, caring & intellect as I was lucky enough to be assigned an extremely brilliant yet kind and patient doctor to handle my case. I did see alot of negative reviews before my procedure about wait times. Seriously folks?! They aren’t longer than other offices and the wait time you experience you get paid back with the staff and doctors equally as patient and invested in you. If I could give more than 5 stars for the facility I would.

Well I was scared the first visit and then when a year later came for for 3rd visit it looked to me that my back was worse and he said because of the arthritis it was getting worse I can see my problem you allow the patient to see what your spine looks like and tells you the truth I appreciate that. Patrick and Anthony were very careful to give me the best care possible. I talked too much, for I was nervous, and when I spoke too softly, each one would ask, “what did you say?” That definitely conveys warm caring people who want the best for me. I am afraid of needles, yet they were understanding and gentle.

Dr. Joiner is great. This was my 2nd visit with him and the 1st was an injection and the 2nd was an Epidural. I was so nervous about both and even more afraid for the Epidural but he made me feel so relaxed. He walked me through both and before I knew it, the process was over. He was absolutely quick and the He made the process as painless as possible

I've always been seen pretty fast. Early morning appointments, waiting room is not crowded. Dr Joiner has been great. I've seen him for 2 years.

Joyner and Anthony were tired but they were brave enough to take me outside of the office nearby my transportation

The folks in the office are great in Roanoke are great. Don't really care for the policy setup in Wytheville but, it is what it is.

Dr. Joiner is both pleasant and quite technically adroit, and I so appreciate all his efforts in skillfully addressing my multiplicity of pain issues over the years. I really appreciate Kathy Phillips, PA-C, as well, her patience and thoroughness in assessing my, at times, challenging myriad of issues and efficiently guiding me through appointments and procedures has been invaluable. Communication channels from patient to (and from) these dedicated health care professionals can be frustrating but is worth it to get the care and pain relief that I have consistently received.

I have been going to Dr Jointers for a few years now. They are the most carning and conpassiont team of Dr and Nurses that I have expernenced. I love beening in their pain managment programe.

Great at what he does. Hardly any pain

The receptionist was nice and respectful, the nurse was also and the doctor and assistant were extra nice in making sure I was comfortable before getting my shot—a calm, cheerful attitude of everyone.
